What Makes the Camaro So Special

By now, most of you may be interested in learning why the Camaro ruled the minds of many Americans throughout the generations. The purpose of this brief section is to highlight some of these characteristics.

One of the best and brightest aspects of the car was the willingness of the manufacturer to offer the customers with numerous choices. A fair portion of the Camaro lovers admired it for its wide power-band levels. In order to augment the look of the vehicle, the manufacturer came up with umpteen "packages". The customer now had the choice of selecting what is best for him (instead of letting the automaker be the spoilsport)!

General Motors also introduced the average population to some features that were considered as too advanced for the cars manufactured then. Some of them included hidden headlights, wing windows, front disc brakes, four-speed manual transmission systems along with Aluminum intake manifolds. Besides, the power levels generated by the engines that came with the Camaro were exemplary. According to reliable insider sources, the engineers had to work over time to reduce the power bands developed by the engines - in order to comply with racing and insurance authorities.

Back in the 70s, the automobile manufacturers were competing against each other to bring out the best models. In the process, they forgot to keep a check on certain primordial aspects (which General Motors seemed to understand much better). For instance, the Chevrolet Camaro released in the 70s (i.e. the second generation of Camaros) boasted of augmented changes in the appearance as well as the overall safety levels. Instead of concentrating on burning rubber, the manufacturer paid ample attention to other details such as road handling capabilities and soundproofing. Now no one needed to go deaf after riding a muscle car!

By the 1980s, the company realized that it had to bring more features into their offerings in order to keep up with the uprising competition. This was also the era when General Motors introduced all-new Camaros that came with electronically controlled injection systems and four-speed automatic transmissions. 16-inched wheels and hatchback bodies for the Camaros became a thing of the present. According to eminent auto researchers, the company had to revamp the engine in order to reduce the fuel consumption of the car. Some state that the modifications made to the car's body was to comply with the strict insurance laws passed during those times.

The fourth generation of the Camaros came with newer aspirations and hopes for the company. Sticking true to their traditions, once again the customers had the option to select from a range of cars that came with V6 or V8 power plants. Newer variants of the car are still in production and have been featured on countless occasions in the movies. The company paid tribute to the Hollywood industry by coming up with the Transformers Special Edition model. The other special edition Camaros released by the same company includes Synergy Concept and the Indianapolis 500 Pace Car.
